What Are Veneers?

Veneers are made of a thin layer of composite or porcelain to cover the visible surface of the tooth. They are highly aesthetic and can change the shape, length and color of your teeth, giving you a new smile you’ve always dreamt of.
The handcrafted translucent porcelain, custom made to create a completely natural look, will make your teeth whiter, better aligned and improve their shape and position. If properly planned and executed, a veneers treatment can last a lifetime.

How Do Veneers Work?

Do you have gaps between your teeth? Tooth malformation, wear or discoloration? Are your teeth slightly mis-aligned? Veneers can be the solution for you. Properly planned and executed, they can also decrease wrinkles and give you a younger, white, more seducing smile.
It’s also worthy to mention that since Wisdom clinic is home to a multidisciplinary dentist, and has big experience in orthodontia, Invisalign, gum contouring, and other aspects of dentistry, your case is in proper hands for proper diagnosing, treatment planning and executing. All while being treated by one the best rated dentists in Montreal.

Types of Dental Veneers We Offer

At Doctor Wisdom, we pride ourselves on the quality of our dental veneers. We offer two main types of veneers depending on your needs which are porcelain veneers and eMax veneers.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

eMax Veneers

Emax is a type of ceramic material made with something called lithium disilicate. It is even thinner than porcelain veneers and can give great natural and aesthetic results through its exceptional translucency and its ability to create a very natural-looking tooth.

Why Veneers Are Worth The Investment

Dental veneers constitute a non-reversible treatment. The dentist needs to shave a thin layer of your tooth in order to place a veneer. At Wisdom clinic, we often use minimal preparation techniques to preserve as much as possible of the tooth structure. The procedure is done under local anesthesia.
It’s also important to note that this treatment is considered an aesthetic treatment and is usually not covered by dental insurances.
At Wisdom clinic, we provide multidisciplinary dentistry, including orthodontia, Invisalign, gum contouring, root canal therapy, implants, etc. Our wide variety of services gives us the ability to evaluate your smile and condition from different points of views in order to guide you into taking the right decision.

Veneers Before and After

Dental veneers have helped many people attain the smile of their dreams. If selected, planned and executed right, they could have a profound impact on your smile, your face and your appearance.

During your consultation with us, the dentist will evaluate your smile and your current teeth condition (position, color, discrepancies, stains, alignment). He will ask you to share what results you wish to attain. Afterwards, he will be able to recommend the proper treatment, treatments sequence and exact cost.

Dental veneers require a skilled dentist who has a trained hand and a trained eye to aesthetic dentistry. It goes beyond shaving a tooth and bonding a thin layer of porcelain. Many aspects of the mouth need to be considered when it comes to veneers: health of the gums and their level, size and color of the current teeth, the smile line, the smile width, the occlusion and many other details. Understanding how you dream of your smile is a priority to us. We will take your vision in our hands and give you the smile of your dreams!

Veneers can last a long time if properly taken care of. They can last up to 10 to 15 years minimum.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers Cost in Montreal, Canada

Doctor Wisdom provides porcelain veneers in Montreal and prides on its utmost quality. The cost of veneers will vary from one’s need to another but usually ranges from $1,500 to $2,500 per tooth in Canada. At Dr. Wisdom, porcelain veneers are $1,500 per tooth instead of $2,100.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a layer of tooth-colored dental porcelain designed to be placed over the surface of a tooth to improve their overall esthetic. They are fabricated specifically for each individual to ensure a perfect fit according to one’s smile and face.

What Dental Issues Can Porcelain Veneers Correct?

Porcelain veneers can greatly improve the esthetic of one’s smile by correcting:

  • Uneven teeth
  • Gaps
  • Minor misalignment
  • Discoloration
  • Chips and cracks

Composite Veneers vs. Porcelain Veneers

The main difference in both types of veneers is the material used. Composite veneers are a minimally-invasive type of tooth covering made using composite resin. Long term, these types of veneers will most likely change in color, chip or even break. Conversely, porcelain veneers are made of a more durable material that will not change color over time and its lifespan well expanded due to its high quality.

How Do Porcelain Veneers Work?

Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory upon receiving an imprint of your own personal teeth. They are made individually to alter the length, width and color of one’s original tooth. We can also alter the position of the teeth by placing the veneers in a specific way to correct mild misalignment or even small gaps.

The Porcelain Veneers Procedure

Porcelain veneers procedure requires two separate visits to the clinic. During the first appointment, the dentist will prepare the teeth by trimming a small amount of enamel off the teeth. This creates space for the veneer placement. An impression of your teeth and all the information needed such as the color, length, width, etc. will be taken to be sent to the lab to create your perfect veneers. Temporary veneers will also be placed during this appointment to test drive it and make sure you are satisfied with the overall look.
When the final veneers are ready, the dentist removes the temporary ones and will ensure proper fitting during the second appointment. If it is satisfactory, the veneers will be bonded by using a special light that will ‘cure’ the material on your teeth to ensure that they are firmly and permanently attached.

The Pros and Cons of Porcelain Veneers

Pros:

  • Natural-looking smile
  • Overall improvement of the smile
  • They will not change color over time
  • Durable and high quality
  • Only requires two visits
  • Less invasive than crowns

Cons:

  • Higher cost
  • It’s an irreversible procedure
  • Possibility of increased sensitivity if not well taken care of
  • Veneers have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years depending on how you take care of them

Who is a Good Candidate For Porcelain Veneers?

Dental veneers may not be suitable for everyone. The ideal candidate for porcelain veneers is someone who has minor cosmetic imperfections or severely stained teeth. Additionally, someone with plenty of tooth enamel and who has overall good oral health is also optimal.

Alternatives to Porcelain Veneers

There are some cosmetic alternatives you could do instead of porcelain veneers. For example, if you are mainly unhappy with the color of your teeth, you can opt for dental whitening. In a similar matter, if it’s the misalignment of your teeth, then you could do an orthodontic procedure such as Invisalign. There is also composite bonding as stated above if you want something less permanent, but still change the shape of your teeth. Crowns are also an option, but it’s a very invasive procedure to do. There is also another type of veneers called  “Lumineers” which are basically extremely thin veneers. They are durable, and look even more natural than porcelain veneers since they are thinner and ultimately it is a procedure that is reversible since we don’t need to shave as much of the natural tooth to install them.

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?

Porcelain veneers are very durable and can last for at least 10 to 15 years before you need to replace them since they could chip or stain a little bit with time.

How to Care For Your Porcelain Veneers

It is important to care for your veneers as they were your natural teeth. Brushing twice a day for two minutes and flossing every day is a must, as well as regular follow-ups to your regular dentist every 6 months. It is important to have great hygiene and pay attention to the gingival margin between your veneer and your gum so you don’t develop any cavities under the veneer. It is also recommended to avoid using your teeth as a tool (i.e. opening a beer bottle with your teeth) or biting on hard foods with your front teeth (we recommend cutting your food, such as apples, into smaller pieces before eating)

Procelain Veneers: Before and After

Understanding The Cost of Porcelain Veneers

The cost of porcelain veneers will vary depending on each and everyone’s needs. It depends on various factors such as how many teeth will need to be done and the type of material that will be used.

Are Porcelain Veneers Worth It?

Porcelain veneers are a long-term investment as they can last for 10 years or more. They can change your smile completely in a span of only two visits to the clinic. Therefore, it is important to consider the pros and cons before deciding if this is the treatment for you.

Ask Your Dentist if Porcelain Veneers Are Right For You

eMax Veneers

Emax veneers differentiate themselves by the material used which is ceramic instead of traditional porcelain. These are one of the most common types of veneers recommended for patients who want the most natural and aesthetic results.

What is eMax?

Emax is made from lithium disilicate glass, an all-ceramic system. It is a coveted material for its translucent color and durability. It can be used to create incredibly strong and natural veneers

What Are eMax Porcelain Veneers?

Emax porcelain veneers are basically made from emax and covered with porcelain. They differ from other types of veneers by their incredible translucency and opalescence, unlike porcelain veneers which give a more opaque look since they do not allow as good a diffusion of light through them. Emax porcelain veneers can give you a very natural-looking smile that will fit seamlessly with your natural teeth. It is one of the most aesthetically pleasing options.

How Are eMax Veneers Fitted?

Porcelain eMax veneers procedure requires two separate visits. During the first appointment, the dentist will prepare the teeth by trimming a small amount of enamel off the teeth. This creates space for the veneer placement. An impression will be taken to send to the lab with all the information needed to create your perfect veneers. Temporary veneers will also be placed during this appointment to test drive it and make sure you are satisfied with the overall look.
When the final veneers are ready, the dentist removes the temporary ones and will ensure the fitting during the second appointment. If it is satisfactory, the veneers will be bonded by using a special light that will ‘cure’ the material on your teeth to ensure that they are firmly and permanently attached.

eMax Veneers Benefits

The main benefits of eMax veneers come from the translucency, opalescence, and light diffusion properties given by the glass-ceramic. Here are some of the main benefits :

  • Ability to match the color of eMax veneers to your existing teeth for seamless integration and a natural-looking smile (a teeth whitening can be done beforehand to have an overall nice white and bright smile)
  • Minimal tooth removal required since these types of veneers are a lot thinner than traditional porcelain veneers
  • Adjustment of the shape, length, width, and color of your teeth can be done
  • Correction of minor misalignments such as minimally crowded teeth or gaps
  • Increased durability since these are harder and thinner

eMax Veneers Cost

The cost of eMax veneers will vary depending on each and everyone’s needs. It will mostly depend on how many teeth will need to be done to have a beautiful and most natural smile.
